PIC (Round) #1
The NGTA Project Team held the first round of Public Information Centres (PICs) in June 2007. Three PICs were held in locations across the Preliminary Study Area. The Public Information Centres were conducted as a drop-in format from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on each of the three nights.
The purpose of the PICs was to present and obtain feedback on the findings of the initial data gathering exercise that has been undertaken to obtain information about existing environmental and transportation conditions within the Preliminary Study Area. In addition, the Project Team presented key aspects of the Study Plan that has been developed for this study. These aspects included the study background, the EA process that is being followed, the policy context for the study and the proposed consultation program. The PICs also included an opportunity for attendees to apply for membership on the study’s Community Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG will act as a working group and provide the Project Team with advice and community perspectives on study issues and work completed throughout Phase 1 of this study.
Public information sessions were held on June 12, 14 and 18, 2007 in Rockton, St. Catharines and Burlington. For more information, including a copy of the display material, location specific summary reports, and a consolidated PIC overview document, refer to the table below.

Public Orientation Sessions (POS)
Public Stakeholder Orientation Sessions were held on April 26th (Hamilton), May 1st (Halton), and May 3rd (Niagara), 2007 regarding the Niagara to GTA Corridor Planning and EA Study. The purpose of the sessions was to provide an update on study progress since the approval of the Terms of Reference, outline the planning, technical and public consultation approaches being proposed by the Project Team, and to obtain feedback and advice from stakeholders on how best to consult. All stakeholders on the NGTA project list were invited to attend a Public Orientation Session and were requested to RSVP.
The Public Orientation Sessions included a presentation, followed by a Question and Answer session. This was followed by round-table, facilitated break-out sessions to workshop consultation principles, notification methods, and the workings of the CAG. Click here for a copy of the handout that was distributed.
Please refer to the workshop workbook to view the questions considered during the breakout session. The Project Team encourages you to submit any ideas on how to enhance the consultation program for this study through the Contact Us page or the Project Team email.

Other Orientation Meetings
In addition to the Public Orientation Sessions, the NGTA Project Team held orientation meetings with the Municipal Technical Advisory Group, the Regulatory Agency Advisory Group, Transportation Service Providers, Business and Commercial Stakeholders, Six Nations of the Grand River Territory First Nation and Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.
Follow-Up Activities
Follow-up consultation activities will be held as necessary throughout the study. It is expected that these activities will be very helpful to facilitate additional dialogue and attempt to resolve any outstanding concerns and issues during the EA process. Follow-up activities will be arranged to address specific project issues as they arise. Additional details will be provided in advance of these study events.
