Community Advisory Group

A Community Advisory Group (CAG) has been established for Phase 1 of the EA. It consists of 50 members, with representation from several stakeholder/interest groups, organizations, and individuals in and around the preliminary study area. The role of the CAG will be to assist the Project Team by providing information and input relative to community interests and study issues. Please refer to the attached Community Advisory Group Charter for details on the purpose and operating procedures of the CAG.

CAG Meeting #4 (May 29, 2008)

A fourth CAG meeting was held on May 29th, 2008. The purpose of the meeting was to:

• Review and confirm CAG Vision elements for a future NGTA Transportation System;
• Briefing/discussion: Provincial Policy Context; and,
• Review proposed Vision, Goals and Objectives Discussion Paper for a future NGTA Transportation System.

In addition, an update on the study progress was provided, including an overview of the Metrolinx Regional Transportation Plan, and an outline of the next steps.

Transportation Modelling and Demand Forecasting Meeting (February 27, 2008)

At the request of the CAG, a Transportation Modelling and Demand Forecasting Information Session was held on February 27th, 2008. The purpose of the Information Session was to present:

• The overall transportation problems and opportunities process;
• Modelling and forecasting principles; and,
• Details of modelling and forecasting approaches to be used (Greater Golden Horseshoe Model and Strategic Demand Forecasting).

CAG Meeting #2 (November 29, 2007)


A second CAG meeting was held on November 29th, 2007. The purpose of the meeting was to:

• To provide participants with an update on the study's progress;
• To introduce CAG members to the process of identifying Problems and Opportunities;
• To brainstorm a "Vision" for a transportation system in the Niagara to GTA Corridor; and
• To identify current transportation problems from a community perspective.

In addition, CAG members reviewed and approved both the agenda for the meeting and the record of the first CAG meeting held on September 20th, 2007 with no changes.

CAG Meeting #1 (September 20, 2007)


The first full CAG meeting was held on September 20th, 2007. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce and provide background to the study for new CAG members, and present the following:

• The Phase 1 study process;
• An overview of the first round of consultation;
• Draft documentation (Study Plan, Overview of Environmental Conditions and Constraints Report, and Overview of Transportation and Socio-Economic Conditions Report);
• Process for identifying transportation problems and opportunities; and
• Next steps.

In addition, the following elements of CAG logistics were discussed:

• Meeting record from the preliminary CAG meeting held in June 2007;
• The Draft CAG Charter; and
• CAG Work Planning (i.e., roles, responsibilities, meeting schedule and general logistics).
